Subsequent to their experience working in the studio of the architect Enric Miralles, Ricardo and Eva have developed a practice in which research is integrated with making and building, a practice that acknowledges the importance of the public interpretation and critical perspectives that the built work attracts as part of this process. GSA is proud to announce that GSA Post-Professional Research Convenor Prof António Tomás’s work on Amílcar Cabral has just been published. The biography narrates Cabral’s revolutionary trajectory, from his early life in Portuguese Guinea to his death at the hands of his own men. It details his quest for national sovereignty, through the life of Cabral, António Tomás critically reflects on existing ways of thinking and writing about the independence of Lusophone Africa. FADA FABLAB OPENS! 2021
The Fablab is an interdisciplinary design workshop located in G100 and is a facility used for the production of student academic projects and staff research. It is an innovative space which offers training and knowledge about new technology like virtual reality, CNC routers, laser cutters and 3D printers- it also offers access to machines and tools like vinyl cutters, a vinyl press, large format printer, guillotines. It also hosts a small workshop with hand and motorised tools with restricted access. The workshop is open to all GSA students. There is mandatory health and safety training and will be organised by the GSA.. Materials and consumables are on sale at cost. CNC machines and printers are charged at a nominal rate per minute. Payments can be made via Snapscan or EFT.
