We are delighted to announce a new sponsorship package with the architectural firm Boogertman + Partners, Africa’s leading architectural practice according to Building Design’s WA 100 2017. Following from 2017’s successful series which saw thirteen local and international architects come to the GSA, including Sir David Adjaye and Bjarke Ingels, this new package positions the GSA-Boogertman + Partners International Lecture Series as the leading fixture on the Johannesburg architectural ‘scene.’ The speaker line-up for 2018 includes Pritzker prize-winner Alejandro Aravena (Chile), Rahul Mehotra (USA/India), Eyal Weitzman (UK), Iñaqui Carnicero (Spain), Jo Noero (South Africa), Samia Henni (Algeria) and many, many more. Said Prof Lokko, Head of School, ‘this outstanding commitment on the part of Bob van Bebber, one of the managing directors of the firm, will allow us to expand our ambitions to make Thursday nights at our Maboneng base a real go-to place for students, practitioners and architecture and urbanism afficionados. It also places the GSA firmly on the international lecture circuit, giving our own staff and students even more global exposure and perspectives.’
