This proposal is driven by an interest in architectural expressions of identity, relating to contemporary discourses around black identity, mixed identity and the resulting marginalisation of non-white subjectivities.
The Isle of Catalysis
‘Catalysis’ is a key concept in postcolonial studies, referring to the experience of several ethnic groups interacting and mixing with each other, often in a contentious environment that gives way to new forms of identity and experience.
‘Transformative Pedagogies’ is a multi-institutional teaching and research programme that seeks to transform both the way we teach architecture and what we teach.
