Two new Critical Practice Seminars!
In Semester 2, we're delighted to announce two new seminars/presentations. On 23 August, Iván-Nicholas Cisneros of Princeton University will be presenting his award-winning thesis project, 140-Mile Third Space of Social and Economic Re-order In-betwixing the Mexico/US Geopolitical Order of Things: The Disruptive Betweenity of the Betwixt Cannabis Menagerie. And on 25 & 26 September, Bartlett doctoral student, Thandi Loewenson, will be presenting her work, Fiction as a Form of Combat: Field Manoeuvres in the Realms of the Weird and the Tender. Unit 17 Student in France!
Senzo Mambo (Unit 17) returns from the Confluence Summer School in France on Monday 16 July! According to Senzo, 'we worked tirelessly with Odile Decq and Sir Peter Cook. It has been an extraordinary and humbling experience: truly beyond my expectations!' We're looking forward to seeing Senzo return safely home.
Unit 12 Q3 Kick-Off Reviews
Join a panel of local and international critics at Unit 12's Q3 Kick-Off Reviews on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 July. Reviews will be held at MOAD, Maboneng. Check our Facebook and Instagram posts for times.
International Invited Critics Series 2018
Visiting Research Fellow Ricardo Assis Rosa from Oxford Brookes University, UK, will be with us on 30 and 31 July. He will be looking at the work of Units 15(X) and 17, assisting Unit teaching staff with critical input into the realisation of students' projects and giving key insights into the relationship between theory and design.
GSA-Boogertman + Partners International Lecture Series # 8
RAHUL MEHROTRA is Professor of Urban Design and Planning at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. He is a practicing architect, urban designer, and educator. His Mumbai-based firm, RMA Architects, was founded in 1990 and has designed and executed projects including government and private institutions, corporate workplaces, private homes, and unsolicited projects driven by the firm’s commitment to advocacy in the city of Mumbai. In 2018, Mehrotra was awarded the Venice Biennale Juror's 'Special Mention' for 'three projects that address issues of intimacy and empathy, gently diffusing social boundaries and hierarchies.'
